Class list toolkit

If you work in summer schools as an academic manager, these tools may help with the process of creating class lists.

The starting point is this blog post, Summer school: Classing where I discuss my experiences on how to manually class students using a spreadsheet. The second part delves deeper into the topic and introduces a tool to partially automate the process: Class list generator.

When classing, it’s important to be aware of student ratios based on the number of teachers and classes you wish to create. This calculator works out how many classes you need to create and how many students should go into each class to avoid going over any set ratios: Class ratio calculator.

If you have an odd number of teachers, use this tool to assign teachers to classes in a three-way split: Three-way split generator.

If your data gives you dates of birth but not ages, this tool will help: Age calculator.
