Course one: An introduction to summer school.

Structure:

  • A welcome forum allowing everyone to introduce themselves and say where they’ll be working and what they’ll be doing.
  • Structured input on the product/ key features of each role.
  • Specific input: text, screen capture videos, and animated explainer videos with AI voiceovers.
  • Review questions embedded in HTML5 content to go over the most salient points.
  • Forums to give a voice and allow collaboration between participants.
  • End of course quiz.
  • Certificate of course completion.
  • End of course feedback questionnaire.

Given the proportion of staff who came into their summer school environment with little to no grounding on what the product was, let alone how it should have been delivered, it made sense to create a short course outlining the basics of what we do. The intention was to make the course compulsory for all staff with the end of course certificate generated on its completion to be presented on arrival to the Centre Manager.

Participants are invited to complete the course section by section.
A welcome forum invites all participants to introduce themselves before continuing.

In the planning process, I formulated some basic questions that became the starting point for a series of short, animated videos which would answer each question.

An introduction followed by some gist questions precede any input.
